Why most CRMs fail in the first 90 days
Most CRM rollouts fail for the same reason: the team configures the tool around how sales is supposed to work, not how it actually works. Stages get named after a textbook pipeline instead of the real decision points reps hit every week.
The fix isn't a better tool — it's a week spent shadowing your best rep before anyone opens the CRM's settings panel. Map the questions they actually ask a prospect, the objections that come up in the same order every time, and the moment a deal genuinely becomes 'likely to close' versus just 'in conversation'.
Only once that's mapped should the pipeline stages get named. And they should get renamed again three months later, because the real process will have drifted from what you wrote down on day one.
The CRMs that stick are the ones reps update because it's faster than not updating it — not because a manager is chasing them for a weekly report.
